Living World, Karakura Town, 70m above the city, Fake Karakura Town * Yumichika wields Azure Peacock (Ruri'iro Kujaku) in Shikai mode. * The rosebush withers away. Charlotte's armor has vanished. One of the bloomed flowers from Ruri'iro Kujaku rests over Yumichika's hand. Yumichika: I'm going to partake of some of your energy. * He bites the flower, and his body heals. Yumichika: That will do. Charlotte: Y-You... You're so sly. I can't believe you were hiding such an amazing technique. That was your Zanpakutou's second form... your Bankai, wasn't it? Yumichika: No, it wasn't. It wasn't a Bankai. My Zanpakutou's real name is Ruri'iro Kujaku. You see, my sword's a little peculiar. It actually has a favorite color. It loves azure, and hates the color of wisteria. So I decided to call it Fuji Kujaku. It loathes that nickname, you see. So it never fully releases when I call it by that.
Charlotte: Why would you do that? Yumichika: I'm in the 11th Squad, the most powerful fighting squad of the 13. Everyone who serves under Captain Zaraki is a bloodthirsty meathead. Everyone feels that if you're going to die in battle, you may as well go out with a bang. That mindset eventually created an unspoken rule that our Zanpakutou's abilities can only be physical. Kidou-based Zanpakutou are considered disgraceful and pathetic. You'll be treated like a coward just for having one. So I don't want anyone in the 11th Squad to see my sword's true abilities, specially Ikkaku and the Captain. That's why I thanked you for hiding me in that rosebush. If you hadn't used that technique, I wouldn't have released my sword, no matter what happened. Charlotte: Even if it meant you'd lose to me? Yumichika: Even if it meant dying by your hand. Living World, Karakura Town, 70m above the city, Fake Karakura Town * Ikkaku wields Demon Light (Houzukimaru) in Shikai mode. * Ikkaku attacks Poww with his weapon. Poww blocks one-handed. Ikkaku struggles but eventually jumps back. Ikkaku: Hey, aren't you gonna draw your sword? * Poww raises a fist. Poww: This is my weapon. Ikkaku: I know all about how thick your Hierro is! Poww: Oh? So you've fought against an Arrancar before? Ikkaku: Yeah. Hey, big man. What's your name? Poww: Why are you asking me that? I don't plan on sharing my name with such a weakling. Ikkaku: Fine, don't tell me! I'm the Third Seat in Captain Zaraki's squad, Madarame Ikkaku! Poww: Hm? Ikkaku: Telling my enemy the name of the man that's going to kill them... is how I do things! * Ikkaku attacks, Poww punches back and a cloud of dust appears. |

Living World, Karakura Town, 70m above the city, Fake Karakura Town * Hisagi and Findor are fighting. Hisagi: I don't get it. Findor: Don't get what? Hisagi: You just said that you were going to fight me with the strength of a vice-captain. But calling you as strong as our 5th seat would be pretty generous. So what's going on? * Findor grins. Findor: Exacta! You're right! Hisagi: Huh? I'm right? Findor: My current power level is the same as one of your 5th Seats. I'm so happy that you guessed correctly. But I guess I should have expected that from a vice-captain. You pass. Hisagi: What? Findor: That was a test. I wanted to see if you could correctly gage my power level. Otherwise, what would be the point of fighting at a vice-captain's level if the opponent couldn't even tell? Hisagi: I don't like the sound of that. It sounds to me like you're saying you know how to fight on par with vice-captains. Findor: Exacta. Right now I'm at a 5th Seat's level. And now... * Findor cracks his mask. Hisagi looks surprised * Findor bolts against Hisagi, who deflects his attack. Hisagi: His attack's gotten stronger! Findor: I'm at 4th Seat's level! * Findor slashes his mask once more and attacks. Findor: 3rd Seat! Hisagi: Don't mock me! * Hisagi blocks the attack again. Findor: We're almost the same now. And this... * Findor breaks his mask, most of it is now gone. Findor: ... is vice-captain level! * There's a crash sound. |

Living World, Karakura Town, 70m above the city, Fake Karakura Town * Kira is flying, like he's being chased. He uses shunpo to dodge flying blades. They seem to explode on impact. He keeps dodging and moves to the top of a building. He notices something coming to him from behind. He turns around. Kira: Way of Binding No. 39: Arc Shield!!
* The shield is easily broken by the attack. Avirama laughs. There's a shadow of a flying creature over Kira. Avirama: Finished already? Talk about pathetic, Kira Izuru! * Avirama wields Sky Battle Eagle (Águila) in Resurreccion mode.
Avirama: But I guess it's no surprise since I'm in my Águila form! These aren't your everyday wings, you know! * Avirama flaps his wings and dozens of feathers fly towards Kira. The feathers seem quite heavy as they crash when hitting the ground. Avirama: They crush everything they touch. They're steel wings, far heavier than any boulder! Kira: Steel wings, huh? Good name. It makes them sound tough. But it doesn't change the fact that they're still wings. * Kira drops his weapon in the air and it stand still. He hits the hilt and it starts spinning.
Avirama: Huh? Another weird spell? Kira: Way of Destruction No. 58: Orchid Sky!!
Avirama: So you think that a tornado can mess up my wings? Give me a break! * Avirama repels the attack, but Kira is gone down a hole into the building. Kira: His power and speed are formidable. But if I can lure him into a narrower space... Kira: Way of Destruction No. 31: Shot of Red Fire!! * Kira uses Shakkahou to open a hole in the side of the building. Avirama: He's letting me know where he is... he wants to lure me in. Kira: So what will it be? Avirama: Quit sneaking around, your damn rat! Avirama: Hungry Wing Rapid-Fire Gun!!
* Avirama's feathers crash the building's ceiling. Kira: They can pierce through the building's walls? * The build starts collapsing with Kira inside. |

Living World, Karakura Town, 70m above the city, Fake Karakura Town * Avirama wields Sky Battle Eagle (Águila) in Resurreccion mode. * Kira jumps out of a window. Avirama: There he is!
* Avirama attacks with Devorar Pluma. Kira knocks down the poles to defend against the steel feathers. Avirama: The little shit's hiding behind stuff again... Kira: (It doesn't look like he's running out of feathers. Which means he's regenerating them quickly. They're probably... regenerating around the edge of where they're shot from. In which case...) Avirama: He must be trying to think up a plan while he's running around, huh? I can let that happen! * Avirama pierces the paintings on his chest and bursts with energy. Kira: What?! What's he doing?! * Avirama grows extra wings and his mask changes. He dives towards Kira, who's standing on the top of a building. They're surrounded in a could of dust. Avirama can't see Kira around. Kira: So where'd you run off to this time?! * The dust settles off and Kira's in front of him. Avirama: What's this? Did you foot get caught in my attack or something? And here I thought I wasn't going all that fast. Kira: Thanks. Avirama: What? Kira: Your long-distance attacks were a real pain. I've been trying to figure out how to draw you into a close-range fight this whole time. You see, my katana's useless against objects not attached to the enemy. * Kira wields Miserable Man (Wabisuke) in Shikai mode. * Wabisuke is touching one of Avirama's wings. Avirama: That doesn't make any sense. What the hell can that weird-looking sword of yours slice through, anyway? * One of Avirama's wings slams down to the ground. Avirama: What... the hell's... happening?! * Half of the building collapses. Avirama can't get up. Avirama: Damn it! Why'd my wings get so--?! Kira: My attacks double the weight of anything I hit. If I hit you a second time, the weight's doubled again. If I hit you a third time, it doubles once more. That's my Zanpakutou, Wabisuke's, special ability. * Scene goes back to Avirama flying to Kira. Kira: Raise your head, Wabisuke. * Kira is shown slicing Avirama's wings in the middle of the dust. Kira: When you were attacking me a moment ago, I managed to hit most of your wings four times. * Back to the current scene... Kira: If your wings are truly heavier than stone, there's no way that you can fly with them anymore. Avirama: You filthy bastard, that's fighting dirty! That's not how a warrior's supposed to fight! Kira: Dirty? Oh, I see. Before the fight you were holding some sort of ritual so we could get ourselves pumped up. If that's how a warrior conducts himself, then it's completely beyond my comprehension.
Kira: The 3rd Squad's symbol is the marigold. The marigold represents despair. It represents, in essence, our world view. Fights aren't supposed to be heroic. Fights aren't supposed to be enjoyable. Fights must be filled with despair. They are dark, terrifying, ghastly. That way people will fear fighting, and try to avoid war. I believe that my Zanpakutou, Wabisuke, matches the 3rd Squad's ideals better than any other sword out there. It increases the opponent's weight each time it strikes, until the opponent is unable to withstand his own weight and falls to his knees, making him appear to be apologizing with his head bowed down. That's why its name is Wabisuke. * Avirama laughs. Kira: What's so funny? Avirama: What do you mean by despair?! People should fear fighting and try to avoid it?! Then I'll say the same thing to you. All that crap's beyond my comprehension! ♪♫ Now Playing: Invasion ♪♫ * Avirama powers up, and stands up. Avirama: Fights are all about pumping yourself up before crushing your enemies! It's supposed to be fun!! * Avirama's reiatsu increases. Avirama: This isn't enough to keep me down! Sorry, but I won't be the one bowing my head in the end! You will! Avirama: Hungry Wing Rapid-Fire Gun!!!! * Avirama seems to miss all the blasts, and dust covers the area again. He keeps attacking. He eventually stops, just to find Kira behind him. Kira quietly slashes once each of his wings. Avirama falls down. Avirama: Why?
Kira: It was clear that you were going to lose once you couldn't use even one of your wings. No matter how many times you get up to fight, a grounded bird is nothing more than dinner. You asked me what this weird-looking sword of mine could slice through, didn't you? * Kira places Wabisuke around Avirama's neck. Avirama: P-Please don't... Kira: Warriors aren't supposed to beg for their lives. * Kira pulls the sword. |

Kon: Shut up and sit still! * Renji comes and punches a cookie down Ichigo's mouth. Ichigo chews. Kon: There. How is it? * Ichigo swallows. Ichigo: Awesome! What is this? Renji: It's a candy the Captain had us make, but they just aren't selling! Ichigo: Why not? Renji: Take a look. * Renji shows one of them to Ichigo. Ichigo: That'll never sell. Rukia: The substitute Shinigami has a strange sense of taste! Ichigo: I do not! |
